Mytych and Hluschak Take First at Bearcat Open

The Drexel wrestling team opened its season at the Bearcat Open in Binghamton, N.Y. where two Dragons placed first in their weight classes. Junior Steve Mytych went 4-0 en route to the 125-pound title while Ryan Hluschak also won four matches to take the 157-pound division. A pair of freshmen, Justin Wieller and Bryant Deinhardt, each placed sixth at the event.
Mytych, currently ranked 17th by Amateur Wrestling News, used a 3-1 decision over Virginia's Tyler Burke in the final to earn his first career championship title. Seventh-ranked Ryan Hluschak prevailed over Cornell's Jordan Leen, 3-1, in the championship final at 157 pounds. Wieller went 4-3 in the tournament to take sixth place while Deinhardt went 3-3 to place sixth at 285 pounds.
The Dragons return to the mat on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Cornell Body Bar Invitational.
